How to Buy
When buying a diamond there are four factors to take into consideration. Cut. Colour. Clarity. Carat. These are known as the Four C's.
All our diamonds are available with full GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certification.
The allure of any particular diamond depends mostly on the Cut. It is the cut which gives the stone its Brilliance-The total light reflected from the diamond, Fire-The dispersion of light and Scintillation- Flashes of light and sparkle when the diamond is moved.
The Cut of a diamond however is different to the shape of a diamond. The Round Brilliant Cut is the shape most used in diamond jewellery. All other shapes are known as Fancy shapes. Traditional Fancy shapes include Princess , Pear, Oval, Emerald, Cushion & Marquise.
Diamond Colour is all about what you can't see. Diamonds are valued by how closely they appear colourless. A diamond closer to coulourless will naturally look more beautiful.
Also available are Fancy Colour Diamonds such as Pinks Blues and Yellows. These can be quite rare and as a result very valuable.
Diamonds are natural and are formed deep within the earth under extreme heat and pressure. As a result they often contain unique birthmarks, either internal (inclusions) or external (blemishes).
The Diamond Clarity refers to the absense of inclusions and blemishes. The better the Diamond Clarity the more valuable the stone.
Diamonds and other Gemstones are weighed in Metric Carats. Just as 1 pound is divided into 100 pennies. 1 carat is dived into 100 points. For example a 50 point diamond weighs 0.50 Carats.
Naturally the greater the Carat weight the more valuable the diamond will be.
Diamonds are a natural phenomenon and therefore every stone is unique. It is the above four factors which make up the beauty and value of the stone.
